Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.
My Two Cents...

ME Kaidan | thinking...
Mass Effect has been picked up as a movie by the studio who produced The Dark Knight, Watchmen and The Hangover. Now, I really enjoyed all those movies so I feel that Mass Effect is in good hands, and yet I'm of two minds about the news. First of all, yay! Mass Effect is going to be a movie! It should be thrilling to see the Normandy (spaceship) swoop across the screen.

Secondly, hmm...Mass Effect is going to be a movie... I'm also a bit bummed about the decision since I'm sure the powers-that-be will dub that Commander Shepard, the character around whom the Mass Effect game revolves, be a man since, of course (she says cynically), they will cater to the the teenage boy demographic (boo!). If they do that, in a way they are saying the canon!Shepard is supposed to be male thereby discrediting my female Shepard (who is actually my main!Shepard). Also, I'm getting a bit sick of seeing the generic, grizzled, male space marine. I want a badass female in the vein of Ellen Ripley from Aliens. That would be totally awesome!

However, if by some stroke of luck a Mass Effect movie that centers around a female Shepard is made, I'd like to submit that Kaidan Alenko should be her love interest and that he should be acted by Kirk Acevedo, from Fringe and Band of Brothers. I think he would be perfect as Kaidan (they even have the same initials. It's fate, I tell you!). Ah, yes, I could definitely imagine some hot romance action happening between female!Shep and Kaidan if Kirk took on that role. ♥ Take a look:

(Can you tell I'm a Kaidan fangirl?)

As for who I'd want to play female!Shepard: that's a hard one. Maybe it's because I'm on a Fringe binge right now (I've been rewatching season 1 in preparation for getting season 2 on Blu-ray), but I think Anna Torv would make a cool Shepard.

Wow the resemblance between the two is amazing! And Fringe is such a good show! I can't wait for the second season to come out so I can actually enjoy it (I missed just about every other episode that was on teevee this year).
I don't play many games beyond what we have for the Wii and the Sims, but I think if they did make the lead a female and go for something different from the 'norm' and more along the lines of Ellen Ripley yeah, I'd totally watch that. 'Cause the world could always use more kick ass ladies, yes?

They really look alike, right? It's like Kirk is destined to play Kaidan. Of course, it helps that he's a good actor too. :P

I'm crossing my fingers that the producers realize that an ass-kicking female!Shep is just what the Mass Effect movie needs. I mean, guys liked Ripley too, didn't they?

I haven't watched any of season 2 of Fringeyet. For shows that are as suspenseful as it is, I'm too impatient to wait until the next week's episode to find out what happens so I just wait for the collected season to come out on blu-ray. Well, I try to do that anyway. I've failed at doing that with The Pacific and The Tudors this year. XD

i'm so fucking excited. When i heard the news i went tear assing around the office going "WEEEEEEE!" XD;;; If they get aaron sims company to do the aliens i will stab someone. I know the guys that work there and they don't spend as much time on stuff as they should. their turn around is fast, but the quality gets lost i think.

I too wish they'd use a fem-shep. If they get a good male shep tho, i'll still enjoy it.

if they had a female shepard i think mariska hartigay from L&O SVU would be awesome. She's gorgeous but there's no question that she could lay you flat if she wanted to. http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/famecrawler/2007/11/01-07/0000034394_20061020195252.jpg

i think sam worthington would be a good choice for a male shepard. i didn't see avatar or clash of the titans but i really really liked him in T4.

so long as they don't get the douchebag who played duke in the GI joe movie. God he was horrible. i mean the movie wasn't great to begin with, but he was awful. awwwwwfuuuuul.

Oh, Mariska would be great as Shepard! Good call! In that vein, I think the woman who plays Kate Becket on Castle (Stana Katic) would be a good option.

I didn't see GI Joe. I was trying to keep my precious memories of the cartoon untarnished by the movie, which I heard was pretty crap. haha

it's only worth it if you love snake-eyes and storm shadow. They were awesome. Actually the wayans brother wasn't bad either. after watching the old show, he'spretty close to the original joes. everyone else is some kind of crap tho. :/

Talking about GI Joe brings back a wave of nostalgia. I loved watching that cartoon...although not as much as I loved watching Jem. (My sis and I were Jem girls. ;) )

You really have to see GI Joe: Resolute. It has some awesome stuff about Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow in it. Also, I loved the Duke and Scarlett stuff too. And, of course, Destro and Baroness. ♥ Cobra Commander is crazy-freaky and not as cheesy as he was in the cartoons. Anyway, it's out on DVD (yay! I didn't know that. I just checked with Amazon). I so wish this would be made into a regular series with Warren Ellis writing for it. He's got some great ideas and made the GI Joe story more adult.

back to Mass Effect casting... i'm watching Bones and thinking.... David Boreanaz would make a really great male Commander Shepard.

gonna try to get GI Resolute this weekend. HOPEFULLY.

I can totally see him as Shepard. He'd bring some humor to the role too, I think (he has that dry, sarcastic humor that I love). Plus, he's hot...so there's that. ;)

And, I hope you like Resolute. *crosses fingers*

I don't know how I feel about Mass Effect becoming a movie. I suppose its given, but in a way I think movies are dead. Studio movies, anyway. Independent movies are the last real movies now. What's replaced movies are videogames like Mass Effect. Its an interactive movie. Who wants a passive Mass Effect experience?

Having said that, that guy would make a yummy Kaidan.

And I think this guy would make a nice male Shepard

I'd still watch the movie, but right now I'm enjoying the first game more than the past 5 movies I watched-- not that the movies were really that great but still.

Oh, he'd make a great Shepard! I love him in The Tudors. I was watching Burn Notice the other night and I thought Jeffrey Donovan might be a good fit for Shepard too.

Mass Effect is very much an interactive movie experience. I totally agree with you on that. That's why it's so fun and addicting to play. You feel like your part of an epic movie! I love that feeling. The movie would have to be spectacular to live up to that expectation. Hopefully, they'll be able to pull it off. *crosses fingers*

If Jeffery Donavan plays Shepard, then Bruce Campbell HAS to be in it, too. I don't know what part he could have, I just know he and Donavan have great chemistry. (I don't mean that in a pervy way for once)
